My name is Liam Pollock and I am from Nottingham in the UK, although I am often based in other countries too.
I have a PhD in psychology from the University of London, and I have been teaching for 7 years in total, including 3 years as an English teacher. I have taught English in China, Cambodia and Georgia, as well as back home in Britain. I have also worked online for several years, and have taught students of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds. I love the way online teaching constantly allows me to meet such a diverse range of individuals from around the world, all with their own stories.
My number one goal in lessons is always to help my students. I like to find out exactly why each student is studying English, and then design my classes and courses in such a way at to get them to reach their goals as effectively as possible. So, whether you want to study for an important exam or interview, improve a specialist area of your English such as your pronunciation or business English, or just feel happier and more confident in your everyday speaking, I am confident I can deliver lessons to meet your needs.
I feel that I am particularly good at building rapport with students and allowing them to feel more relaxed and confident when using English. Research shows that people learn best when they are relaxed and enjoying themselves, and so I aim to make sure that students feel this way at all times.
Aside from teaching I enjoy travelling, and also learning more about world history and culture, current affairs, and of course psychology. I really like it when classes give me the opportunity to discuss these issues. My favourite thing about online teaching is the way it allows me to be a learner as well as a teacher, by learning each day about different languages and parts of the world.
I look forward to meeting you. Feel free to join me in the classroom any time!
