Hello, my name’s Kath, I live in Cardiff and I have been teaching English professionally for the last 6 years. My passion for teaching began in 2002 when I took an 8-month sabbatical from legal work to volunteer in primary schools in Tanzania. The experience was so rewarding that I returned to the same schools every year for the next decade during holidays and further career breaks. In 2011 I took the CELTA course and have been enjoying my new life teaching English ever since.
I specialise in 1:1 classes and have taught general English to all ages and levels. As I was a personal injury solicitor for 17 years, I have a specific interest in teaching English for legal purposes, medical English and business English. I especially enjoy preparing students for exams such as the First Certificate and BEC Vantage.
I take time with my students to find out about their needs, interests and objectives so that I can tailor lessons specifically for them to enjoy their learning experience and progress quickly. My lessons are organised, relevant and fun.
My interests include travelling to developing countries and I have volunteered in Guatemala, Cambodia and Madagascar. I run a charity in Tanzania providing education to some of my former pupils and have more recently completed a degree in International Studies. I am studying Spanish so totally understand the joy and frustration of learning a new language.
I look forward to our first lesson!
