I’m Kate and I’m from Canterbury in Kent but I have spent most of my life living abroad!
I started my teaching career as a teaching assistant at school then at a university in France over 20 years ago. I started working in English language teaching 15 years ago when I moved to Madrid. There I taught all ages and all levels, from beginners to proficiency. I have taught students from various backgrounds and have taught in diverse contexts (one to one, intensive courses, exam courses, in company, young learners, etc.). In addition to teaching I am a teacher trainer and work on CELTA courses in Malaga where I am now based. Teaching and training are different in some ways but I love both.
I also write and edit for various publishing houses and I co-wrote a B1 workbook for Pearson two years ago. (Roadmap). I really enjoy the variety in my job. When I’m not working I enjoy walks on the beach, going to the cinema and reading. I’m also very sociable and need to meet friends often, especially as I mostly work from home.
My specialities would be helping students increase and improve their communication and fluency skills, helping learners with their listening skills and exam classes. I also focus a lot on pronunciation and in particular, connected speech to help learners sound native like when they are speaking English.
I look forward to working online with students from all around the world.
