Hi, I’m Joe, I’m a native English speaker from the UK. I started as a teacher after I got my CELTA qualification back in 2003, and I am still teaching now because I really love it. There is something great about helping someone overcome frustrating challenges and meet their language learning goals.
Over the years I have taught in many different countries including Italy, Japan, Spain, Cameroon, France and Ethiopia. This has taught me a lot about how different people from different cultures approach language learning, and how my teaching approach needs to adapt so as to support them. I speak French, Italian and Spanish, and I have also studied several African languages as I am also a part-time anthropology student. This means that I know what it is like to come up against challenges when learning a new language!
If you need help getting past difficult grammar points then I have many tried-and-tested lessons for you. I can also help you work on your pronunciation by taking you through all the different sounds in English. I believe in showing students, not telling them. I will guide you through classes where you work it out for yourself, and where you do the talking.
When I’m not teaching you’ll always find me in the kitchen – I love trying out dishes from around the world.
I look forward to meeting you!
